We have arrived!

It is 6:30 PM July 24, 2008 in Nairobi and it is about 55 degrees and overcast. We arrived last night at nine and were met by Steve Rutenbar and his daughter, Caroline, a recent college graduate. We collected our luggage and the seven "tubs" we brought full of school supplies (thank you NorthPark women) for the Milk School and medical supplies (thank you NPPC and friends) for Sister Freda's Medical Clinic. After a night's rest at the Anglican Guest House we met Sister Freda in the lobby and were off to MEDS, a Christian relief organization, in Nairobi that sells medicine wholesale to organizations in Kenya. Sister Freda, after years of trying, had just been approved to buy there. When I found out she might not be able to buy there because of politics, I sent an email to MEDS stating that I was a doctor and our mission. Whether that had anything to do with it, Sister Freda received her approval last week and we purchased several thousand dollars of medical supplies that MEDs will deliver to her clinic in Kitale in 2-3 days. Because of Nairobi traffic we were unable to purchase more but hope to get her a cautery unit in the near future.
Tonight twenty people from California join us and we fly to Kitale tomorrow morning.
We feel safe and well taken care of. We thank all of you for your prayers and support and will report more as the opportunity allows.
